In Feb 06 Fr John Byrne on behalf of his parish councils asked SPEC to
Assist with a process to explore the needs of young people in their parishes and help discern if it may be the appropriate time to employ a parish youth worker.

Sandra and Sabina worked with representatives from 4 parishes and some young people, through a process to enable some understanding of ‘what is catholic youth ministry’ and move towards a strategy to address the gaps of provision identified.

SPEC is continuing to offer support and guidance to these parishes as they appoint a youth minister to co-ordinate this project to work alongside young people from Jan 07.
