Pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela
A couple of times a year some of the community go away as a group on pilgrimage. Last year most of The Loft team (including Jon and Roseann's 2-year old daughter) and Anna from the Catering Team spent a week in northern Spain walking the last 110km from Sarria to Santiago. The walk is a physical journey but also a spiritual one and was a great opportunity for all of us to slow down, enjoy each others' company and take some time to reflect on the year so far and perhaps what our futures might hold. It was also an inspiration to meet and talk to so many others on the camino who had walked so much further than we were. Ana, who is from Spain, was able to find out when Mass was taking place each evening for our spiritual nourishment and also to get local recommendations for places to eat for our physical nourishment. We were grateful that the weather did not improve too much, otherwise we might have got sunburnt! The walk was an inspiring and at times challenging experience and consequently it was exciting but also a bit sad to finally arrive at the cathedral of St James in Compostela.
