| and consultant from the group ‘Independent Thinking’, who ran a workshop on personality profiling, and the keynote speaker, Judi Shimmell, who is currently working with the Hallam diocese in reviewing and renewing their approach to youth ministry.
Bishop Bernard Longley opened the day with a few words and prayer, and the theme to the day, ‘Discovering a Way’, was well captured by Judi’s amusing and thought-provoking keynote talk, which was very well received. Numerous areas of youth ministry and youth work were catered for, and those attending the day were very much spoilt for choice of workshops and seminars; evangelisation, child protection, drama resources, faith development, use of film and media, prayer, communication, and more, were all covered during the course of the day.
The conference proved valuable, not only in its providing resources and training, but also in re-energising and inspiring youth ministers in their work. Encouragement in working with young people is as vital as the encouragement given to young people through our ministry, and that was definitely provided on this day.
