| | Hi! My name is Simon. I've been a bit of a fixture here at SPEC because I like it so much. I've been working here on and off in different capacities for about 7 years. I'm the resident SPEC Youth Worker. When I haven't been at SPEC, I have managed bars and pubs around London, I became a London Bus Driver, I worked as a Youth Worker in Canada and I walked across the top of Spain which took about 30 days. I was born and bred in London West Side by a German Father and a Kiwi Mother. I have 5 sisters and a brother and plentiful extended family in Germany, Australia and New Zealand. I love the outdoors and doing adventurous stuff - One of the scariest moments of my life was jumping off a platform 450ft high attached to an elastic band tied to my legs (yes- bungee jumping) and jumping out of a plane at 15000ft. I am the proud owner of a mini-motorbike and many other toys. I also own about 100 dvd's! Am looking forward to meeting you and doing some fun stuff here at SPEC if you come. | |
| | Hi, my name is Sabina Koscielecki. I have a New Zealand accent, not an Australian one, and yes, my name is Polish. I was born in Kiwi land and have lived there all my life but my whole family is Polish. I've been living in the UK since January 2005 and working here at SPEC as an Assistant Director (SPEC Youth Ministry and Programmes). Some vaguely interesting things about me: I have a degree in Psychology and Education, Graduate Diploma in Psychology, Postgraduate Certificate in Counselling and Postgraduate Degree Education (Guidance Studies) - which actually means I lead a pretty boring student life for about 6 years! Some fun and interesting things about me: I flew my first aeroplane (Piper Tomahawk) at age 14 years, I played waterpolo, I used to dance, teach dance and choreograph, and I was part of a competitive aerobics team that won 5 national titles. I love cooking and swimming, I don't get scared very easily so I love anything that gets the adrenalin pumping, but I do have a phobia of moths and flying insects when I sleep. I love decorating, and if I wasn't so passionate about working with young people I think I'd like to be a property developer. I hope to see you soon! | |
| Hi! I’m Louise. I’m part of the SPEC Community, working on the SPEC Centre team. I’m an Irish Londoner, so of course I have a huge extended family. I have cousins in England, Ireland, America, Holland and probably Argentina and New Zealand too. I love strange and fantastical stories – anything from folk and fairy tales to science fiction. I love Sci-fi films and television shows, especially Battlestar Galactica, Torchwood and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I also like happy endings, or stories with the potential of happy endings. I read a lot of children’s books, like Harry Potter and books by Dianne Wynne-Jones. Musicals are usually pretty good for happy endings and happy songs. My favourites include Rent and Oklahoma. Speaking of, I love music – listening and performing. I play Irish folk music on the tin whistle and violin. I’m also learning the Uillean pipes, which are similar to the Bagpipes, but not as loud. I also love singing, anything from opera, to musicals, to church music to folk songs, to pop songs. I also love Christmas carols (happy songs) and start singing them in July, which everyone else just loves (!). More than anything else, I like to ask and answer questions and to learn new things. I’ve studied maths, physics and information management. I’m currently studying for a diploma in youth ministry. I also read a lot of theology and psychology books. I really love working with young people and talking about life and just having fun. | |

| | Watgwan! Lol. My name is Patrick. I'm 22 and born and raised in west London. My heritage is a very random mix of half Irish and half Swiss... or Swish as I like to say! I'm big time looking forward to Euro 2008 as Switzerland is hosting it. I have met most of my 100+ second cousins in America, Switzerland, Ireland and England. I've got a degree in Business & Management from Exeter University and also studied Architecture for a year. I love art (doing and looking at), architecture, playing football, cycling and listening to music - particularly RnB/Hip hop. I recently went travelling round America with two mates, which was awesome. I've done a few different part time jobs - from working in shops and unloading trucks at 6 in the morning, to working in exclusive restaurants and waiting on famous celebrities. I'm definitely not a thrill seeker - I would never jump out of a plane or bungee jump. I hate snakes, bats and tuna (in the can). Now I'm at SPEC for a year, and hopefully I'll get people to stop and think about life and what's important in it. | |
| Hi there! My name's Sophie and I'm spending my gap year working on the SPEC Centre team. The most important thing about me is that I love Drama - I love acting, I love working backstage, I love techie work (lights and sound) - I love all of it. All that drama love does spill over into my everyday life, which means I like to make things exciting and I don't tend to stick with one thing for a very long period of time. The main visible sign of this is my hair - I arrived at SPEC with blonde hair and blue highlights, and in the space of two months ran through several colour variations including blonde with purple tips, purple fringe highlights, pink sections, golden brown and brown-but-almost-black. So if you arrive at SPEC and don't recognise me from my picture, it's probably because I've done something mad with my hair. But don't worry, I'm a very friendly person and I won't hesitate to introduce myself! Just a few more things about me: I'm Irish and therefore a (fairly lazy but firm) supporter of the Irish rugby team, I love indie music, I'm a little bit addicted to coffee, I'm very clumsy, I'm an adrenalin junkie and I can't wait to meet you if you come to SPEC! | | | |
| | I’m Brandon. I’m from America and Minneapolis, Minnesota, is where I call home, but I’ve spent the last three years living in Austin, Texas, so I suppose part of me feels like a Texan. I love music in any form so I see live shows whenever I can, and I spend a lot of time playing guitar and trying to play piano. I love to eat Mexican food, but I’m having a hard time finding Mexican restaurants in England. I like to read and my favorite books are The Iliad and To Kill a Mockingbird, as well as poetry by Tony Hoagland or Jack McCarthy, and I’ll read anything by John Steinbeck or Chuck Klosterman. I’ve recently become a big fan of the TV shows Skins and Teachers, and I’m a die hard fan of Tottenham football – Go Spurs! | |
Hello there my name is Luke! I am 19 years and am originally from London although I am now from a small town in the middle of nowhere called Spalding. I was lucky to escape! I play the drums REALLY LOUD and have played in several bands, once in front of 200 people which was well scary! I love listening to punk rock music and dancing to trance music Last year I worked for the youth service for the archdiocese of Liverpool, which was exciting but its good to be back down south again! I support Preston north end football club although I am still waiting to go to one of their matches! I find that i have a crazy amount of energy and always seem to be jumping about the place and making as much noise as possible! I love comedy movies and horror films, and sometimes a mixture of the two. My favourite films are shaun of the dead, football factory and fight club and anything with zombies in!

My name is Beth. I’m from Derby, in the middle of England. It’s full of hills and sheep (which I love). Before I came to S{EC, I spent a couple of years working backstage in a theatre in Nottingham. I worked in the wardrobe department, helping the cast with their costumes. It was really cool, I got to see some of the shows, my favourites being Miss Saigon and Fame. I also spent some time at my local primary school, doing music, dance and drama with the yr 5 and 6 class and taking them out on school trips, which was fantastic fun! Recently I walked 20 miles from Hertfordshire to Westminster Cathedral to raise money for our World Youth Day trip. It was an awesome day, but it hurt a lot! One of my most favourite things to do is to laugh, and I do that a lot here at SPEC. So when you come to visit, be sure to have a giggle with me! See you soon.
