| The Loft: secondary programmes | |
| | Year 7: Friendship and community The programme recognises that Year 7 is a time of change and that the issues surrounding friendship are very real ones. We aim to explore what friendship means, what Jesus can teach us about friendship from what we read about him in the New Testament and how we are called to be friends with everybody, accepting them for who they are. | |
Example activity: Rollerball “Christ is like a single body, which is made up of many parts; it is still one body, even though it is made up of different parts.” (1Corinthians 12:12) This is a very active outdoors session using drainpipes, balls and various obstacle to explore the importance of working together in order to achieve a common goal.

Year 8: Who are you? Who am I? We aim to engender an understanding that each of us is created in the image and likeness of God and that God knows and loves us as individuals irrespective of the clothes we wear, the bands we like etc. | |
| |
Example activity: My Potato “Many of the Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman's testimony, ‘He told me everything I ever did.’” (John 4:39) This session looks in greater depth at who the students are and how God has been present to them in their lives. Students give an identity and character to a potato and learn how easy it is to recognise their potato. If they can so quickly learn to ‘know’ their potato, how well is God likely to know them.

| | Year 9: Walk with me We aim to show students that Jesus can help us to make the choices that are best for us as we journey through life. We hope to show that individuality is God-given and that the choices we make will reflect that individuality. Example activity: Meditation: Who is your guide? "Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will make you fishers of men." Mk 1:17 This session is a guided meditation focussing on Jesus as a guide for our journey. The session includes creative expression through art. | |
